Welcome to A Step Ahead’s Pre-Kindergarten program, a special place designed for children aged 4 to 5 who are on the brink of their next big adventure: elementary school. This year is more than just preparation; it’s a time of transformation. Our program offers low teacher-to-student ratios, experienced educators, and Nebraska-specific learning standards. We focus on nurturing your child’s natural curiosity and turning it into a foundation of critical thinking, independence, and lifelong passion for learning. Our goal is to ensure every child walks into their kindergarten classroom feeling capable, confident, and excited for what’s next.

Academic readiness is important, but our Pre-K program goes further. Real preparation means teaching children how to learn, not just what to learn. In our classrooms, learning is a team sport. Big-Kid Habits, Step by Step
Every part of your child’s day is designed to help them focus a little longer, grow braver, and confidently take on new challenges.
Our licensed pre-kindergarten program turns curiosity into “I can do this.” Through a play-based curriculum, your child will explore sounds and words with fun and joy. Storytime becomes an adventure. Children start recognizing words and share their favorite parts. Little hands will proudly practice writing their names. They will draw pictures that tell their own stories. Your child will learn to pack folders, care for their belongings, and assist with classroom jobs.
We gently guide them through lunch lines and bathroom independence, encouraging kind words like ‘please help me.’ By the end of their Pre-K year, your child will have the academic, social, and emotional tools needed to step confidently into kindergarten, so when the big day arrives, it feels like an exciting next step, not a big leap.
